Day 1 evening - Founder’s Circle
September 24, 2008
At the end of check in day (Wed) we had a lovely dinner…
After dinner we had a Rising Star - Present and Past meeting which was very interesting. It was actually open to everyone so it was neat to sit in this big room and hear all these great ideas being shared. Since this was my first Founder’s it was also very cool to be able to meet and put faces with the names of so many. We were up so late and I had not slept at all the night before, no nap during the day, so I was ready to fall over once I made it to my room.
I don’t know think I showed you the name plates on our doors - too cool
I thought it was really cool but I didn’t study it closely. I guess I was too overwhelmed by everything else. Anyway I get home and Patrick says “Isn’t this that um, what do you call them, stickum things?” Laughing, I looked more closely and indeed it does look like Decor Elements. It isn’t something that’s offered now - I’m not starting any rumors either - but it was pretty cool. Maybe we’ll see them in the catalog before long?
Anyway, came into the room went straight for the pj’s and then to take out my contacts which felt as if they were glued to my eyeballs. When what to my eyes does appear on the shower curtain rod? A GIFT….
I was amazed. I really just stared at it for a bit as if it were from another world. I know that sounds really stupid but I was just stunned that this was only the first night and WOW it had been an awesome ride so far. And of course I was sleep deprived
But wait, it wasn’t empty, oh no my friends it contained 3 Classic stamp pads, a roll of double stitched ribbon and a stamp set. TWO STAMP SETS IN ONE DAY!
I slept like the dead after fondling my new goodies - hahahaha - but who doesn’t like free stuff? Okay the truth, I fell into bed and never remembered hitting the pillow. But I really loved my gift Shelli, honest
Day 1 at Founder’s Circle
September 23, 2008
I was so excited about Founder’s Circle that I didn’t sleep a wink the night before leaving. So with an early morning flight, once it was about 3 a.m. and I had planned to get up about 4, it just wasn’t worth sleeping. Now mind you I wasn’t just sitting around, I was packing and still trying to work out my swap. Yes, you read that right. 145 swaps to make and the night before leaving I still couldn’t get the design right. ARGH. I think the design finally came together about 2 a.m., then I cut all the paper (stamping nothing) and packed it all up to head to Utah. I did have a couple of steps that I could do on the plane so I kept those in my carryon.
Once I was at the airport, I was early since Audrey had to be at school before 7:15, so I had some breakfast and just chilled out. Julie Salva, my upline, arrived not too much later. To our surprise it turned out that we had FIVE of us on the same plane. Five gals from TN going to Founder’s Circle - that’s awesome!
Anyway, the flight was fine. We arrived in Las Vegas and made it through the throng of people. Rene Watson and I were almost squished by some automatic doors at the top of the escalator but we powered through. (Those doors were crazy, no warning and they just slammed shut! Very weird.) We had a little confusion getting our bags since they changed the carousel on us but it wasn’t a huge delay. Once we had our bags we went and hung out with the other stampin gals who were there and waited to have enough to get a bus going to St. George, Utah. We didn’t wait very long at all and we were herded to a tour bus and on our way. I have to say that Stampin’ Up! didn’t let us down, they had a service picking us up and those people were on the ball! I had been told that this trip would be five star all the way and it was nice not to have to worry about lugging that baggage around, finding a cab, shuttle, bus, etc. So I was a happy camper at this point.
We settled in on the bus for the 2 hour ride easily enough. Julie knows everyone so she was chatting away and always introducing me which was cool. Now remembering the names was another story. But we all had a good time. My first views of Arizona and Utah were great. It was so interesting to see just how different the terrain is from TN.
Here are just two of the many pictures I took through the bus window while in motion ha! You can see the guardrail in each one….
The only thing wrong with the bus ride is that none of us had eaten lunch. So were starving! But of course SU! was on the ball. We had a buffet lunch waiting on us. So do not pass go, EAT LUNCH! It was so nice to not have to worry about baggage again - they delivered it to our rooms for us.
Here’s the nice banner the hotel had to welcome us.
Did I mention that we had the whole hotel? Everyone had their own room and it was so nice not to have to worry about other guests. Just crazy stamp women in the halls all the time
The remainder of the day we just hung out and took it easy. We had a group dinner scheduled later that night but I think I’ll do it another post.
